Rural Self Government Level : Reaching out to Elected Gram panchyath (Village Council) members, youth clubs, SHGs- Self Help Groups, religious groups, schools and farmers groups, bankers and agricultural extention officers, catchment area development, command development officers – through mass media and direct demonstrations. These stake holders are the real beneficiaries and also people who get directly involved in putting up structures and conserving water. Any small mistake or wrong doings resulting in failure of the experiment may boomerang on the whole idea itself, so the communication and technology should be people friendly.
District level : A next level of the stakeholders are the district level officers, social club members (Rotary, Lions, Inner wheel etc), industries, NGOs and educational and research institutions. The decisions taken at the distinct level Boards, bodies have a direct impact on the over all activity at the district level. The plans and programmes do get approved for Government sanctions and my intervention at this level has resulted in getting financial grants for water harvesting is both a means and technique to involve the government at District level.
State level : The biggest stakeholder whom I have convinced at the State level is the Government official in the key departments – Secretary to Government, Agriculture and irrigation departments. Without mincing words one can say that convincing the highest bodies is always a tough nut to crack, and are convinced in the name of stakeholders of water The idea is now a government initiative and budgetary allocations are a part of strategy. State level NGOs and research bodies in the state have taken up the mission while private sector is also catching up to utilize the rain water in their industrial areas.
National level : The existing networks on water issues have recognized the idea and are also taking part in our campaigns with support and passion. I have been joining my hands with my team in several campaigns in North India and neighboring states.
Inter National level : Ashoka Innovators for the Public, an international fellow ship programme has not only recognized the idea I am persuading, it has supported the initiative and the innovative idea with a fellow ship programme. SIDA is also supporting the initiative with a mega project to rejuvenate a river basin in South of Karnataka.
